Dosbarth Lliwedd have been really enjoying their topic of the Gruffalo. They listened to and told each other the story and even made their own version using story maps. Children used their imagination, designing their own new character to add to the story too. In Maths, they have created their own version of the Gruffalo woods and used it to give and follow directions using left and right, the points of a compass and turns.
The children have also enjoyed making Gruffalo biscuits, exploring adjectives ‘purple prickles’ and ‘orange eyes’ practically. Outside of the classroom, the children loved going on a mini beast hunt to find what other creatures might live in the Gruffalo woods and exploring their habitats. After researching and creating fact files of the animals in the story, we ended our topic by visiting the woods to look, listen and search for the animals and to build dens.
