Science
To help us understand how our bodies break down food, we carried out a hands-on investigation. We used bananas, crackers, orange juice, and water to represent food and stomach acid, then "digested" them in a sealed bag just like our stomach does. Next, we poured the mixture into tights to show how the intestines squeeze out nutrients and water. Finally, we looked at what was left – the waste our body doesn’t need. It was a fun (and messy!) way to explore how digestion works from start to finish.
Iaith
We have just completed writing our own narratives inspired by the book 'The Explorer' by Katherine Rundell. Our learners' have been considering how they can effectively use dialogue in their writing, while also using expanded noun phrases to help with descriptive writing and fronted adverbials and paragraphs to keep their stories sequenced.
Dance
This term, we have been creating a dance inspired by our local area. Our dance focuses on our local area's natural beauty, the threats it faces and conservation ideas. Later on in the term, we will be using our dance to inspire some poetry writing.
